Cloud computingIs Cloud Computing just another buzz word or is it real world technology? In the beginning Cloud Computing was something hardly imaginable. The term has been created long time ago in the time when internet wasn’t born yet and data networks were slow and inflexible. As the Internet became publically available, Cloud Computing began to gain its shape. Nowadays Cloud Computing is a computing technology where shared data (information), software, and resources are provided on demand (utility computing).
Cloud Computing is used and provided by countless companies. The most active innovators are Amazon, Google, Dell, Microsoft and others. Dell holds most patents regarding the term “Cloud Computing”. These companies usually use cloud computing in distinct ways. Microsoft’s focus is targeted mainly on online (or shared) operating systems, while Amazon sells computing power and storage to 3rd party users. Google uses Cloud (or grid) Computing to power its search engine.
